DRAPERY DESIGN
CollectiveThe first learning collective built for both interior designers and window coverings professionals.
As designers and fabricators, we know firsthand how much knowledge, time, and skill it takes to create exceptional window treatments. And yet—formal design education rarely covers drapery in depth. That leaves many professionals searching for guidance, tools, and trusted peers to learn from.
The Drapery Design Collective fills that gap. It’s a professional, ad-free space where the art of designing custom window dressings and the business of managing custom window coverings projects intersect. Resources designed specifically for this industry are available through a membership.
Join the only community where designers & window covering professionals connect, learn, and grow through curated tools, education, and industry collaboration.

Meet Your Hosts
Karen Lander
Karen has been immersed in the window coverings world since 1991. What began as a childhood love of sewing grew into Drapery Design, the business she built from her basement into a full retail showroom and million-dollar workroom. With a background in management, training, and a BS in Textile Design, she blends creativity with business know-how to support designers at every level.
Karen has managed projects from one-room updates to whole-house installations and knows the challenges that come with growing a design business. Today, she is channeling her decades of knowledge into the Drapery Design Inspiration Community—helping others sharpen their skills, gain confidence, and find joy in their work.
Heather Rabold Hill
For more than two decades, Heather has been helping designers bring their window treatment projects to life. Her career has taken her from Calico Corners and Ethan Allen to launching a custom design center and later representing fabric houses like Robert Allen, Thibaut, Kravet, and Stout. Along the way, she has guided countless designers on fabric choices, proportion, and finishing details.
What defines Heather is her gift for connection. As president of the Philadelphia chapter of the International Furnishings and Design Association, she brings people together, expands networks, and cheers on every designer she meets. Her passion is making sure others succeed—and she has the experience to help them get there.
