Karen Lander is the founder and principal designer of Drapery Design, supplying the finest window covering products and services to the Main Line and beyond for over 25 years. Karen is the area’s go-to drapery designer creating premier drapery fashions for clients who want impeccable window treatments and accessories with customized detailing. She is a long-time area resident who understands the sophisticated look and high quality that her clients expect. From simplified elegance to couture sophistication, in a modern or a traditional setting, she can execute the creation of that certain look. She approaches her work with both a savvy design sense and a technical understanding, which has led her to create many new innovations for her clients to satisfy their unique needs. Her vast technical knowledge about fibers and weaves and fabric construction helps her advise you as to the best choices for your project.
Creating beautiful things from fabric has been an interest of Karen’s from an early age. While attending Radnor High School, she received a national award for her outstanding sewing and design skills. Karen received her Bachelor of Science degree in Design by completing her undergraduate studies at Drexel University and Philadelphia University. After a decade of working in the corporate world, Karen’s lifetime passion for sewing led her to establish Drapery Design, which started in her basement and eventually grew to a retail location. Today you can see samples of her work in two area retail stores: Knots & Weaves in Malvern and Interiors for the Home in Wayne.
Currently Karen collaborates with several interior design and architectural firms to create high end window coverings for their clients. She will personally manage your project with the assistance of her team of seamstresses and installers. Karen is a past national board member and treasurer of the(Window Coverings Association of America) and is also the past President of her local Pennsylvania Chapter. She is a CWTC (Certified Window Treatment Consultant), a board member of The Paoli Business Association, and a Drapery and Design Network member. Karen’s work has been featured in five different rooms at Vassar Show houses and has been published in magazines such as Traditional Home, Decorator Show Houses, and Designer Kitchens. She has won several industry awards for her designs and is a published author in trade magazines.
Custom design means we can create anything you visualize! We offer a unique rendering service for clients to see a visual of the proposed designs. We create images of window treatments showing your selected fabrics and components and layer it onto a photo of your room. If your room is under construction we can create a rendering visual of your future room.
