Principal, Certified Window Treatment Designer
Karen Lander is the founder and principal designer of Drapery Design, creating premier drapery fashions for Philadelphia Main Line clients who want stylish window treatments and accessories with customized detailing. Karen is the go-to designer on the Main Line when windows need to be dressed. She is a long-time area resident who understands the sophisticated look and high quality that her clients expect. From simplified elegance to couture sophistication, in a modern or a traditional setting, she can execute the creation of that certain look. She approaches her work with both a savvy design sense and a technical understanding, which has led her to create many new innovations for her clients to satisfy their unique needs.
Creating beautiful things from fabric has been an interest of Karen’s from an early age. While attending Radnor High School, she received a national award for her outstanding sewing and design skills. Karen received her Bachelor of Science degree in Design by completing her undergraduate studies at Drexel University and Philadelphia University. After a decade of working in the corporate world, Karen’s lifetime passion for sewing led her to establish Drapery Design, which started in her basement and eventually grew to a retail location. Even though the retail location has been closed you can see samples of her work in two area retail stores: Knots & Weaves in Malvern and Interiors for the Home in Wayne.
